In the period February 20-22, 2025, the traditional annual Conference on Simulation Training in Medicine of the Bulgarian Society for Simulation Medicine will be held at the Telecommunication Endoscopy Center (TELEC) of MU-Pleven. The scientific event is organized under the auspices of the rector of MU-Pleven, Prof. Dobromir Dimitrov, MD, PhD. The forum is held in partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Bulgarian Society of Cardiology.
The conference program includes numerous thematic lectures by specialists from the country and abroad, demonstrations and presentations of innovative technologies. Students are also provided with training on virtual trainers and simulators at the Telecommunication Endoscopy Center, certified for conducting highly specialized courses by the American College of Surgeons. The conference has a scientific and practical focus and aims to familiarize students, trainee doctors and young specialists with the possibilities of simulations in a training environment and the application of the acquired knowledge and skills in a real work environment. For this purpose, before the official opening of the conference, two training courses are organized.
The first training course is targeted to physicians working in the field of emergency care, emergency departments and clinics of cardiology, with a focus on emergency cardiologic conditions. The course will be held at the Resuscitation Center of MU-Pleven and is certified by the American Heart Association (AHA). The training will be led by two qualified lecturers: Assoc. Prof. Radosveta Wells, Program Director for Specialization in Emergency Medicine, Texas Tech University-El Paso, USA, and Brian Wilson, Training Manager at the Center for Health Sciences, Texas Tech University-El Paso, Department of Emergency Medicine, member of the Training and Education Center for Healthcare Simulation (TECHS). The training will be carried out on simulators-mannequins, with which the Resuscitation Center of Medical University - Pleven is equipped. The mannequins are equipped with the most innovative programs, setting various parameters of a person's cardiac and vital activity, which require timely medical intervention and competent actions.
The second training course is organized for students and is focused on polytrauma simulations in order to show a model of action of a medical team in cases of traumatically ill patients. The course will be led by Dr. Alexander Valkov, Emergency Medicine Specialist, Salford Care Organization-Northern Care Alliance, UK.
