Academic Council

The Academic Council is a collective body for the governance and oversight of the University’s activities. The Academic Council consists of 40 members and includes representatives of the academic staff employed under a primary employment contract with the higher education institution, as well as students, doctoral candidates, and administrative staff. The Academic Council is the governing body for the educational and research activities of the higher education institution. The Rector is an ex officio member and Chair of the Academic Council. The Academic Council is the principal governing body of the higher education institution, which adopts the management’s mandate program and oversees its implementation. It determines the overall educational and research policy of the University and decides on key issues related to the organization and content of research activities. It decides in which specialties, forms, and degree levels education shall be provided and makes proposals regarding the number of students to be admitted. The Academic Council adopts decisions on association with higher education institutions and research organizations and on the conclusion of agreements related to international activities. It approves a system for the evaluation and maintenance of the quality of education and of the University’s academic staff. |
