The 23rd International Conference for Students and Young Doctors took place at the Medical University of Pleven from October 12th to 16th. Held under the theme "Medicine through the Steps of Life," the forum brought together students, young physicians, established specialists, and scientists from Bulgaria and abroad.
On behalf of the academic leadership, Prof. Dr. Mariela Kamburova, Vice-Rector for Research, delivered a welcoming address to the guests and participants. Over 100 active participants presented their research projects, presentations, and abstracts, while more than 250 students attended as observers.
The scientific program covered current topics across various medical fields, including oncology, endocrinology, cardiology, and reproductive health. A prominent feature was the series of plenary lectures by international guest speakers, which facilitated the exchange of scientific ideas, knowledge, and professional experience between young researchers and established experts.
A First: Veterinary Medicine Section
For the first time, a dedicated section for veterinary medicine students was included in the conference. This addition enriched the scientific program with topics exploring the history and societal contribution of the veterinary profession, wildlife conservation, and modern scientific methods in veterinary medicine. A highlight of the practical program was a demonstration of aerial assistance provided to an injured person, featuring a medical helicopter. Participants had the opportunity to gain a close-up look at the organization and procedures involved in critical situations. This practical training was made possible through collaboration with the "Georgi Benkovski" Air Force Academy in Dolna Mitropoliya.
For 23 years now, the conference has provided young people with a platform to showcase their scientific achievements, exchange ideas, and learn from leading experts.
Congratulations to the organizers and all participants for their professionalism, dedication, and pursuit of knowledge and innovation! We wish these young medical professionals and researchers continued scientific success, inspiration, and the courage to explore new horizons in medicine!
