Once again, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the XVIII International Medical Scientific Conference for Students and Young Doctors (MDSC). It will take place on 13th September – 18th September 2021 (Monday – Friday) at the University Telecommunication Endoscopic Center (TELEC) of MU-Pleven.
With this year’s motto “Blooming Colours of Medical Science!”, we will once again focus on the latest achievements in medicine.
The conference will start on 13th-14th September 2021 with the Sixth Autumn School of Innovations in Medicine which will focus your attention on actual problems and tendencies in conservative and surgical treatment of cardiovascular diseases and breast cancer. The initiatives planned in the autumn school are described in details in the attached preliminary conference program.
On 14th September (Tuesday), our special guest will be the distinguished expert in Cardiosurgery, Prof. Dr. Tsvetomir Lukanov, MD, PhD, Head of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Section, Cardiac Surgery Clinic, Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany. On the same day, Dr. Vitali Rizov (Czech Republic) and Dr. Ivaylo Nenov (Bulgaria) will give academic lectures in the field of cardiac surgery and vascular pathology.
The official opening ceremony of the conference will be held on 14th September and it will end with an academic lecture.
Online Symposium of Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons (SLS) will take place on 15th of September, in which will be presented the latest trends in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. A real-time operation will also be livestreamed from CELEBRATION HOSPITAL FL, USA.
On the same day, an online presentation is planned to introduce students and teachers with the new opportunities for mobility and cooperation in higher education under the “Erasmus+” program 2021-2027.
In the course of the conference, on 15th-16th of September 2021, lectures will be given by prominent representatives of medical science in Bulgaria and abroad, among which are:
- Georgi Momekov, MPharm, PhD, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria; President of Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Science Society.
- Maksym Pogorielov, MD, PhD, DMSc, Deputy Director of Science, Institute of Medicine, Sumy State University, Sumy, Ukraine.
Due to the restrictions imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will be a hybrid event and in compliance with all anti-epidemic measures. Participants which want to attend the event online, will receive an email with additional information between 9th-12th September 2021 (with instructions for inclusion).

Due to the hybrid format of the conference, the participation fee has been reduced as follows:
Active participants (Bulgaria) – 10.00 BGN
Passive participants (Bulgaria) – 5.00 BGN
