On December 4, 2025, Medical University – Pleven welcomed the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, H.E. Dai Qingli, who held a meeting with the Academic Leadership and learned about the main priorities and directions in the University’s development.
The official delegation was greeted by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dobromir Dimitrov, the Vice-Rector for International and Project Activities Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zornitsa Gorcheva, and the Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Dr. Mariela Kamburova.
During the visit, the Chinese guests made a donation in support of sports activities and the achievements of the university table tennis team. In the Sports Complex “Prof. Dr. Nedko Kyuchukov” the Ambassador met with lecturers and students actively participating in various sports – basketball, volleyball, table tennis, football, martial arts, cricket, badminton, fitness, and traditional dances.
For the library collection of MU – Pleven, the delegation donated 50 specialized publications dedicated to China, which will enrich the cultural and educational exchange between the two countries. During the working meeting, emphasis was placed on the long-standing partnership with Chongqing Medical University, within which MU – Pleven introduced HIFU ultrasound surgery for the first time in Bulgaria. Rector Prof. Dimitrov – an honorary professor of Chongqing University – highlighted the importance of joint scientific publications and sustainable academic exchange programs.
The academic community in Pleven will continue in the future to celebrate the Day of Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture, strengthening intercultural dialogue and common scientific goals.
As a sign of appreciation, Prof. Dimitrov awarded H.E. Dai Qingli with a plaque for successful partnership, expressing readiness to expand joint projects with leading Chinese universities and hospitals.
