The Rector of the Medical University – Pleven, Prof. Dr. Dobromir Dimitrov, is among the recipients of the national award "Virtue of the Decade," presented by the National Association of Orphans in Bulgaria.

At a solemn ceremony on February 27, 2026, over 90 organizations, institutions, and public figures were honored for supporting the Association's social initiatives over the past ten years in aid of children deprived of parental care and children from vulnerable social groups.
This recognition is a testament to the consistent commitment and personal dedication of Prof. Dobromir Dimitrov toward causes related to education, care, and support for young people.
Upon receiving the award, the Rector shared:
"In medicine, we are used to treating wounds that are visible. But there are others: the silence, the lack of support, the lack of a chance. It is our duty as a society not to allow these wounds to remain untreated. I do not accept this award as the end of an effort. I accept it as a reminder that virtue only has meaning when it is shared and when it is sustainable over time."
Special thanks to the Chairman of the Association, Slavi Mihaylov, who shared inspiring stories of realized initiatives and expressed sincere words of gratitude to all partners and donors.
There is nothing more beautiful than doing good and lending a hand to the children who need support.
