SLS–BAMIRS | April 22–23, 2026

A pre-congress training course for residents and young doctors was held at the Telecommunication Center of MU–Pleven as part of the Second Conference of the Bulgarian Association for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery (BAMIRS), with international participation from leading experts of the Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons (SLS).

The program combined an intensive theoretical component with highly specialized practical training. During the lecture sessions, key topics included:

Management Strategies for Intraoperative Major Vascular Injuries

  • Current Resident Robotic Training
  • Safe Abdominal Entry and Closure
  • Choosing a Robotic Surgery System
  • Complications of Hiatal Hernia & Bariatric Surgery
  • Analytical Decision Making in Medicine
  • Technology-Related Failure and Surgical Injury
  • Preventing Complications in Gynecologic Surgery

The practical component provided an opportunity to work in a real environment at the Telecommunication Center:

  • Laparoscopic suturing (Lap Suturing) in an experimental operating room
  • Wet lab” training with animal models
  • Specialized model for controlling massive vascular bleeding (IVC)

Participants worked in small groups under the guidance of international instructors, ensuring an individual approach and effective acquisition of practical skills.

The course stood out for its high level of organization, strong international participation, and excellent balance between theory and practice, further strengthening the role of MU–Pleven as a leading center for training in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
