The Ambassador of Egypt visited Medical University – Pleven to discuss opportunities for cooperation in education and research activities

On April 23, H.E. Mr. Nader Saad launched the initiatives marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Bulgaria with a visit to Pleven. During his visit, he held a meeting with the Rector and the leadership of Medical University – Pleven.
Rector Prof. Dr. D. Dimitrov welcomed H.E. Mr. Saad and introduced him to the university’s priority areas of activity – minimally invasive and robotic surgery, telemedicine, personalized medicine, and bioprinting. He emphasized that the university was the first in the country to introduce medical education in English and currently educates international students from 55 countries worldwide.

The Ambassador of Egypt proposed cooperation aimed at attracting students from Egypt, as well as building partnerships with leading medical universities. He showed great interest in the high-tech facilities of the Telecommunication Endoscopic Center, which include a virtual hall with state-of-the-art simulators and an experimental operating room.

During his visit, His Excellency also met with leading surgeons from the American Association of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons (SLS), who were conducting a pre-congress training course for residents and young doctors as part of the Second Conference of the Bulgarian Association for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery (BAMIRS).
