Five students, five diplomas from Samarkand!

A delegation of five students from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University – Pleven returned with awards from the 80th International Scientific and Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists “Achievements of Fundamental, Applied Medicine and Pharmacy,” held on May 15–16, 2026, at Samarkand State Medical University.
The prestigious forum brought together over 1,200 students and young scientists from various countries. The conference was officially opened by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, K. Sharipov, and the university rector, Prof. Dr. Zh. Rizaev.
On behalf of MU-Pleven, a video greeting to the participants was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mariella Kamburova, DSc, Vice-Rector for Research Activities.
The students presented two scientific reports in the “Surgery and Urology” section, and each of them was awarded by the international jury:

  • Andrea Arsova – First Prize for the report “Wet to Dry Phase in Wound Healing”
  • Svetoslava Chingova – Third Prize for the report “Fournier's Gangrene as Terminal Complication of Metastatic Rectal Carcinoma: A Case Report”
  • Pavel Kalev – Diploma for rhetoric
  • Ralitsa Ganeva – Diploma in the “HealthTech Start-up” category
  • Anna Dimitrova – Diploma in the “Scientific and Technical Progress” category
  • The scientific projects were prepared under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paulina Vladova, PhD.
  • The students’ participation is part of the active partnership between the two universities, established through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2024 in Samarkand.
  • The conference was also featured in a special report by the Uzbek national television channel Oʻzbekiston 24.
  • As a sign of successful cooperation, representatives of MU-Pleven extended an invitation to their colleagues from Samarkand to participate in the 23rd International Medical Scientific Conference for Students and Young
  • Doctors of MU-Pleven, which will be held from October 12 to 17, 2026, under the motto “Medicine through the Stages of Life.”
