During the period 18–22 May 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Polina Marinova participated as a trainer in the “Laparoscopic General Surgery Intensive Course” at IRCAD – Strasbourg, France – one of the world’s most prestigious centers for training, scientific development, and innovation in the field of minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
The invitation to Assoc. Prof. Marinova was personally extended by the Director of IRCAD – France, Prof. Antonello Forgione, following the exceptionally high evaluation of her professional performance, expert skills, and teaching capacity during her participation in specialized courses at the institute. Some of these were carried out under project BG-RRP-2.004-0003 “Research Higher School: Medical University – Pleven,” funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Her selection among the other candidates for the position was made during the advanced course in gallbladder and biliary surgery, held at the end of April 2026 in Strasbourg.
With her participation in the training team of the “Laparoscopic General Surgery Intensive Course,” Assoc. Prof. Marinova becomes the first Bulgarian surgeon to receive the recognition and trust to be invited as an instructor in this training format at IRCAD – an institution that sets the global standards in postgraduate qualification in modern surgery.
This is a prestigious international recognition both for the professionalism and dedication of Assoc. Prof. Marinova, and for the Medical University – Pleven and the University Hospital “Dr. Georgi Stranski” EAD, which she proudly represents before the international academic and professional community.
The consistent policy of Rector Prof. Dobromir Dimitrov to encourage international qualification and the academic development of faculty members creates conditions for Bulgarian specialists to be highly appreciated and invited to the most prestigious European training centers.
With this, MU-Pleven further strengthens its position as an important center for the development of high-tech surgery and modern medical education.
