In May 2026, the leadership team of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Medical University – Pleven conducted a working visit to the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest, Hungary, aiming to develop international cooperation and build a sustainable academic partnership.
The meeting was attended by:
- Assoc. Prof. Branimir Nikolov, DVM, PhD – Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine;
- Assoc. Prof. Miroslav Genov, PhD – Vice Dean;
- Chief Asst. Prof. Despina Poupaki, PhD – Department of Preclinical Sciences;
- Kalin Kostov – Legal Advisor.
During the visit, key areas for future cooperation were discussed:
- exchange of knowledge and best practices in education and clinical activities;
- joint research projects;
- opportunities for student and faculty mobility;
- specializations and professional development;
- exchange of experience in the organization and operation of clinics for pets, livestock, and horses.
The meeting laid the foundation for future joint educational and scientific initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education, expanding international academic contacts, and creating new opportunities for the professional development of students and faculty.
The cooperation between the two institutions is an important step toward strengthening the international prestige of the Medical University – Pleven and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, as well as expanding the faculty's scientific and academic network.
