The project related to simulation-based training for emergency response, carried out in partnership with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (USA), was recognized at the Southwest Regional Simulation Conference (SimGHOSTS), held in El Paso, Texas, on May 28–29, 2026.
The team received the Best E-Poster Presentation Award for the poster: “A Simulation-based Program Can Improve Medical Students’ Disaster Preparedness: A TT Health/Bulgarian Collaborative Study”

The award-winning project demonstrates how simulation-based training can significantly improve medical students’ preparedness for disasters and other emergency situations, while also creating opportunities for the exchange of best practices between Bulgaria and the United States.
The recognitions do not stop there! On June 2, 2026, the team received confirmation that the project had been accepted for presentation at the EUSEM 2026 Congress in Paris, France—one of the most prestigious European scientific events in the field of emergency medicine.
This success is further evidence of the high quality of the educational and research activities at Medical University – Pleven and of the significant contribution of the Resuscitation Center to the development of innovative teaching methods and international academic collaboration.
