At the invitation of H.E. Arun Kumar Sahu, Ambassador of the Republic of India in Bulgaria, the Rector of Medical University – Pleven, Prof. Dr. Dobromir Dimitrov, participated in a discussion meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, during his visit to Bulgaria.
The event brought together representatives of academia, business and institutions, including the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the India–Bulgaria Business Chamber and other organizations developing active partnerships between Bulgaria and India.
During the discussion, opportunities were discussed for expanding academic cooperation between MU–Pleven and leading Indian universities, the development of joint educational and research initiatives, the exchange of students and faculty, as well as the implementation of innovative technologies in healthcare and medical education.
Medical University – Pleven continues to develop active academic ties with India. Since 1997, the university has been training Indian medical students in English, and today their number exceeds 350, while more than 300 Indian citizens have already graduated as doctors from Pleven.
