The conference was organized on the initiative of Prof. Ivelina Yordanova, Head of the Department of "Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology" at the Faculty of "Medicine", Medical University Pleven and head of the Center for Epidermolysis Bullosa in Bulgaria.
The scientific forum was held under the motto "New directions in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital diseases with cutaneous fragility". The theme was interdisciplinary. We had the honor and pleasure of hearing the lectures of world-renowned leaders in the field of this group of congenital rare diseases: Prof. Holm Schneider /Erlangen/, Prof. Cristina Has /Freiburg/, Prof. Dimitra Kirici /Thessaloniki/, Prof. Iliana Tancheva-Poor /Cologne/, Prof. Katerina Damevska /Skopje/, Prof. Carmen Salavastru /Bucharest/, Prof. Pavel Chernichov /Kyiv/, Dr. Konstantin Steinke /Cologne/, who over the years have become my partners and friends. Dermatologists /Dr. Vasilev, Dr. Gincheva, Assoc. Prof. Gospodinova/, pediatricians /Assoc. Prof. Botsova/, and medical geneticists /Dr. Kamburova/ from the Expert Center for Epidermolysis Bullosa at the "Dr. G. Stranski" University Hospital Pleven, as well as from: Tsaritsa Yoanna Hospital ISUL Sofia /Prof. Troyanova/, Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital Sofia /Prof. Demerdzhieva, Prof. Darlenski/, "Euroderma" Clinic Sofia /Prof. Kazandzhieva/, "Alexandrovska" University Hospital Sofia /Assoc. Prof. Drenovska/, "Dr. Stoyan Kirkovich" University Hospital Stara Zagora /Assoc. Prof. Tanya Gancheva/, and Dental Practice Sofia /Dr. Tsvetomira Bozhanova/ joined the scientific program of the forum with their scientific reports and plenary lectures.
The forum was attended by 156 delegates from various medical specialties and 70 students. The official guests of the event were our teachers Assoc. Prof. Mariana Trashlieva and Prof. Konstantin Koychev.
In parallel, a workshop on the topic "How to dress wounds in EB" was also held.
In conclusion, the scientific forum once again established and consolidated the place of the Medical University - Pleven and the Department of "Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology", and highlighted the leading position of the Expert Center for Epidermolysis Bullosa at the "Dr. G. Stranski" University Hospital Pleven as the most competent and leading institution in the field of rare diseases on a national scale. It created opportunities for the exchange of scientific information and clinical experience between specialists from different specialties and countries, for the sake of providing better care for patients. The scientific conference is dedicated to the 49th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of "Dermatology and Venereology" - Pleven.
