Department of Psychiatry and medical psychology

History

 

In 1974 as a successor of the former Pleven Region Psychoneurologic Dispensary, the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology was formed at the newly established Higher Medical Institute in Pleven, headed by Professor Yordan Stoimenov. Subsequently, the Department was joined by its firsт assistants Pepa Dimitrova MD, Radka Gaydarova MD, Rumen Stoychev MD and Mariya Aleksandrova MD.  In the next two decades the department continues its growth and development with the election of new assistants – Pravda Koeva MD, Georgi Georgiev MD, Diana Barkashka MD, Dimitar Kirov, MD and in the recent years Kaloyan Stoychev MD,  Kraismir Ivanov MD, Ivanka Veleva MD and Petar Kolarov MD.
