General Information

The Faculty of Pharmacy is one of the fundamental units within the structure of Medical University-Pleven. It was established in 2016, in accordance with the requirements of the Law for Higher Education. The Faculty is member of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy (EAFP) and its graduates meet all the requirements for the profession as defined by the European Council Directives 85/432/EEC, 2005/36/EC and 2006/100/EC.

 

Mission

The mission of the Faculty of Pharmacy is to satisfy the demand for Master's degree Pharmacists in Northwest and Central North Bulgaria.

The theoretical knowledge and practical trainings offered to our students are focused on improving the quality of pharmaceutical care by building a new concept of outpatient medical and pharmaceutical assistance and meeting the long-term needs of the pharmaceutical industry by training experts in pharmaceutical manufacturing, clinical trials management, pharmacovigilance, pharmaceutical marketing, authorization procedures, drug policy and health technology assessment.

Educational Goals

The Faculty of Pharmacy has set the following educational goals while considering the need for competent Master's degree Pharmacists:

  • Contemporary theoretical and practical training which meets the international standards for pharmaceutical education.
  • Doctoral programs.
  • Postgraduate studies.

Educational Priorities

The educational priorities of the Faculty of Pharmacy are focused in the following fields:

  1. Organizing and conducting the educational process in accordance with the contemporary quality requirements and according to national and international standards of a competitive educational environment.
  2. Maintaining and developing the introduced modern model of interaction between lecturers and students in the educational process while strengthening the autonomy and responsibility of the students.
  3. Establishing the Faculty of Pharmacy at MU-Pleven as a regional, national and European educational and research center in the field of high-end technologies and their applications in education, medicine, public health and the pharmaceutical industry.
  4. Introducing new scientific fields and topics into the interdisciplinary research activities in order to fully realize the potential of the University and effectively participate in the research work market.
  5. Putting emphasis on the use of new information and communication technologies in education, research and administration.

Training Facilities:

The Faculty is situated in a modern, 3-storey, 3671 m2 building which hosts 4 lecture halls with a total of 274 seats, 15 practical training laboratories and 4 research laboratories with 196 working stations. Contemporary audio-visual equipment is available in all lecture halls. There is an extensive range of spacialized equipment in the aforementioned laboratories.

Foundation and Development

The Faculty was founded through a Resolution, issued by the Bulgarian Parliament, dated March 30th 2016. The academic staff of the Faculty include 55 highly-qualified Lecturers - Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors.
