History and Goals

Medical College - Pleven was founded as an independent medical school in 1948 with a decision by the Ministry of Public Health. Since 1997, it is part of the academic structure of the Medical University - Pleven.

The basic structure of the Medical College consists of "Medical Diagnostic Tests" and "Social and Pharmaceutical Care" sectors as well as the administrative units involved in student affairs.

Mssion: Medical College at MU-Pleven formulates its mission and goals according to the mission and goals of Medical University - Pleven.
They are as follows:
  • To carry out its activities in compliance with health and social needs of our nation and region while abiding by the priorities of the University and our national strategies in education, science and health care. This is to be achieved by eucating and preparing highly-qualified professionals, able to meet the needs of public and private health and social institutions both on national and international level.
  • By providing graduate and postgraduate training of students and specialists in health and social activities while meeting the highest national and international standards;
  • By conducting applied research and investigations, aiming to support medical practice;
  • Through social activities which aim to promote and deliver highly-skilled medical proffessionals to sitezens and regions in need of health assistance.
  • Through comprehensive support from the academic community in solving public health problems and the realization of the objectives of health care reform in Bulgaria.

Structure

The structure of Medical College at MU-Pleven includes two sectors:

  • Social and Pharmaceutical Care
  • Medico-diagnostic Investigations

Facilities

 

Medical University - Pleven has a well-developed technical base for advanced training and information support of all students. The students at Medical College - Pleven make full use of the entire base of the university with all its facilities.

To provide quality education on campus, 5 lecture halls are equipped with modern displaying equipment and Internet connection.

Each specialty has the necessary number of educational and practical halls and laboratories that meet modern requirements, depending on their purpose. Provided are workstations for each student, ensuring quality performance on assigned tasks.

Practical training, which lasts no less than 50% of the total workload in the curriculum, takes place in a positively accredited therapeutic and diagnostic facilities, pharmacies and warehouses for wholesale medicines, medical cosmetics surgeries, beauty centers and studios, social institutions. The educational and practical bases provide sufficient, modern material and technical base with highly trained and qualified staff assisting the education of students.
