Department of Midwifery

General Information

The department of Midwifery is part of the Faculty of Health Care. It was created on 31.10.2007 by the General Assembly of Medical University – Pleven. Head of the department then was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Svetlozar Stoykov, MD. From 2015 Head of the Department of Midwifery is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nadejda Hinkova, MD.

Department facility and equipment

The educational process is assisted by using modern training means – plaster cast for births, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, dummies for pregnancy, fetus development and presentations, for gynecological check-ups and manipulations, anatomy of female reproduction system,  birth conduct, episiotomy and sewing, first care for newborns, plaster cast for hygiene care, cathetrisation, probing, puncture, muscle and vain manipulations, blood transfusion, surgical and midwifery instruments, etc.
